Episode 03 - Pirate Master

Captain at start of show:
Joe Don

Review the Captain:
Joe Don consistently took "his share" of the gold, possibly abusing his role as captain, and setting himself up for his eventual loss of the role. Was this because he knew he would lose his position and wanted to gain as much money as he could before then? Or was it just that he was an idiot and thought the crew would put up with it? He angered much of the crew with his antics.

Details of the treasure hunt:

Teams go in search of the quarter master's treasure. Paddle ashore and follow their maps up the Bamboo Trail. When they see the sword and skull along the way that team can sabotage the other. Crews must cross a raging river and locate a headless skeleton above a blood rock. They must then find the head of the skeleton which holds the key to the treasure. Upon finding the key, crews must locate a nearby waterfall which holds the hidden treasure

The Red Crew:
Jay, Louie, Kendra, Azmyth, Jupiter, Nessa, and Krista.

The Black Crew:
Joe Don, Cheryl, Ben, Sean, Alexis, and Laurel.
Sabotage point:
Red reached the sabotage point first, with black following close. A collection of large bamboo sticks placed in a tunnel formation collapses on the black team as they are attempting to pass through. Sean holds up the main bamboo sticks as the remainder of his team "scuttles" through.

Which crew discovers the treasure:
Red team discovers the treasure first.

MVP on the treasure hunt:
Louie (He located the skull with the key and ultimately made it under the waterfall to carry out the treasure.) Azmyth has honorable mention for helping Louie with the treasure and activating the sabotage.
How much $$ found:
$35,000
How the $$ is distributed:
Split the loot evenly between the crew.

New Captain:
Azmyth (And has a new found accent.)

New First Officers:
Jupiter and Jay
Marked Pirates:
1.Alexis
2.Laurel
3.Cheryl
Best Argument at Pirate's Court:
Cheryl discussed how as an officer last week she was not able to create the bonds she would have liked to with the crew. She didn't know what it meant to be an officer so she simply followed captains orders. Discussed teamwork and her ability to 'cheer' people on.

Worst Argument at Pirate's Court:
Possibly Laurel. Her only argument was that she wanted to stay and that she liked being on the boat. On the other hand, Alexis, basically told the crew, 'what they see is what they get' from her.
Who is cut adrift: Alexis was chosen by the captain after a tie resulted in the voting.

Best quotes this week:
"Joe Don, man. . . had that little puppy dog face on when he came outta there. . . with his little hat, 'cause he loves wearing the hat, and he had that blue coat, and he had to pass it over." --Louie

"Have you gotten an accent now?"
--Cameron Daddo (host)

Wow, finally some winds of change and a somewhat shocking/interesting boot.

I was glad to see Joe Don's reign finally end and Azmyth as the new captain. Also his choices to receive the Black Spot were interesting. Also you can tell that Jay is still playing both sides whenever he can, especially with a somewhat alliance he still has with Joe Don.

At Pirates' Court, Alexis, Laurel and Cheryl each did put up good arguments for them to stay. But it clearly was going to be either Alexis or Cheryl who would go. Sure enough, it was a tie and Azmyth had to make the tie-breaker decision.

I was a little shocked that it was Alexis because I would of wanted to get rid of Cheryl first, with her having ties to Joe Don. But it's finally getting more interesting now and we'll see how it progresses. See you for next episode!

Blackhand_Sam Worst defense ever 3 Jun 17 2007, 1:06 PM EDT by marycrickett

And the worse, weakest self defense award goes to Cheryl...

"I was just following orders"
"I wanted to be your buddy but the Captain wouldn't let me"

And this woman is supposed to be a lawyer??
If all her courtroom arguments are that pathetic its a wonder she ever wins a case.

She's lucky Alexis performed so badly in the challenge, because she deserved to be cut loose based on that defense alone.

Wow I like the show and it's concept so far...I like the twists. I really thought Joe Don was going to get the black spot. If Louie has anything more to do with it he will see Joe Don gone...but not without his 40K plus booty! Arrrrrrr
Cool that the captain can break the tie at Pirate Court...looks like we are in store for a twist next week.
