Physical characteristics:
He had a scar across his eye and limited his vision.After being shipwrecked on the island of Mayotte in 1720 ,he wore an eye patch over it.

Early Life:He was nicknamed La Buse or La Bouche ( the buzzard)Because of the speed he threw himself on his enemies.


How he became a pirate:His name first appeared in 1716 when he joined the Benjamin Hornigold Pirate company .He was a good climber.

His main territory:


Famous/Infamous for:He used the black flag to signify that all who sailed on his vessel were pirates.


Notable battles:His biggest success came from conquering the Portuguese vessel Nossa Senhora de Cabo(The Virgin of the Cape) which was carrying gold.


Finally met his end:He was hung at the island Bourdon (Today known as Re'union) on July 7,1730 for the crime of piracy.


Biggest myths: It is said that when he stood on the scaffold hwe wore a necklce.It contained a cryptogram of 12 lines . He would have thrown it onto the crowd exclaiming"Find my treasure, he who may understand it. "The location of this necklace is unknown Some still search for it.In 1923 a document was found describing his treasure at the southern Island of the Seycheller group. It hasn't been found yet.
