This was the most valuable coin of the pirate realm: A coin minted by the Spanish, it was worth about 7 weeks of pay for an average sailor.

To provide a sense of relative value: one doubloon was worth roughly seven weeks' pay for the average sailor; two pieces of eight could get you a cow.
