| Notable battles: At three separate times in U.S. history, presidents have condemned, applauded and again condemned his actions. He is known for his piracy, or "privateering" as he preferred to call it, in the Gulf of Mexico. He was also a hero in the Battle of New Orleans. |
| Finally met his end: unknown, he is presumed by some to have died when his ship sank in a hurricane, no evidence was ever found.Another account from the Herbert Ashburg said he'd died from a feveer in the little indian village of Teljas at the age of 47 |
